What we teach

Every discipline is available as a weekend class in Behala or as 1:1 lessons online.

With live tabla

Kathak

Kathak grew from the storytellers of North India. Students learn tatkar (footwork) in teentaal, chakkars (spins), todas and tihais, and abhinaya, the art of telling a story through expression.

A tabla player accompanies class, so students learn to play with the rhythm, answer the bols with their feet and finish exactly on sam.

Who it suits: children from about 5, teens and adults. Beginners welcome.

With live pakhwaj

Odissi

Odissi comes from the temples of Odisha. Its two basic stances, chauka and tribhangi, give it a sculptural, flowing look. Students learn basics, pallavi and abhinaya pieces in order.

The pakhwaj, the barrel drum of Odissi music, is played live in class, the way the dance is meant to be learned.

Who it suits: children from about 6, teens and adults.

Original choreography

Creative dance

Our creative dance wing is known for its own choreographies. Pieces draw on classical grammar, folk forms and contemporary ideas, and are made for our students and our stage shows.

A good fit for students who want to perform, keep fit and express themselves, with or without a classical background.

Who it suits: children, teens and adults.
